Piggy In The Middle

You have all probably found yourself in the situation, where you are hanging out with two more people and really want to play a game but keep thinking about what to play together for so long, until it is almost time to go home again, right? But why don’t we have that problem when we’re with more people? The reason behind it is, that it is just so hard to find games (that aren’t board games) which are fun to play with only three people and don’t require a lot of equipment.
If you are also always struggling with that, I have good news for you! I found an easy ball game that you can play with three people, anywhere you want and you only need one ball, that’s it.

What do you need?
Except a ball and at least two fellow players, you do not need anything else to play this game.

How to play?
To start the game, you have to gather at least two more fellow players and find something soft that you can throw, preferably a ball. The next step is then to form a line with the three players. The two players on the outside face the middle, so that they’re both looking at each other. It doesn’t matter how big the distance between the players is, it just has to be enough space to throw the ball. The piggy-in-the-middle can face whichever player he or she wants to. The players on the outside then start throwing the ball back and forth, wanting to keep the player in the middle away from catching it. They can either throw the ball, roll it, bounce it, …, whatever they like best (it still has to be in reach from the piggy-in-the-middle, so don’t throw it too high). Once the piggy-in-the-middle manages to catch the ball, the outside player who touched the ball last switches positions with the person in the middle and becomes the new piggy-in-the-middle. The game keeps going on like that until the players don’t want to play anymore.
You can play it with up to as many players as you want but I would suggest that when you are more than five or six players, at least two players are the piggy-in-the-middle, depending on how many people you are in total.

I hope you enjoy this game and have fun playing!
