A beginners guide to the guitar

Maybe you are thinking about learning an instrument or you just like to sing and think that you are missing a little bit of support to get it just right. Something that works like an one man band, something that makes the song really sound like the song you want to deliver. Or maybe it was always your plan to become a rock-star, but you just lack the perfect instrument for that. I mean you could always go the hard and boring way and learn the piano. You are absolutely able to accompany yourself beautifully with the piano, but it is not easy to learn nor is it giving you a real chance of becoming a rock-star. I would recommend you something else, that is easy to learn and gives you a better chance of becoming a rock-star. And even if you won’t become one it is easy enough with this instrument to group up and start a hobby band to rock in your basement. Search no more because what you are looking for is nothing less than the absolutely awesome instrument “the guitar”.

Okay now that I have convinced you to play the guitar you are asking me where to start. Fair enough. First of all you need to know about the different types of guitars and the ways they are used in. You basically can choose between the electric guitar, the acoustic guitar and the classic guitar. The electric guitar, also called e-guitar is most and best used in the rock department, but is also sometimes used in dance music, trap music and pop. It is best to play breathtaking solos and producing sound that can nearly burst your eardrum. No don’t get me wrong an electric guitar is a great instrument, maybe just not if you are just starting learning to play the guitar or if you are just looking for something to jam on a little bit. For this I totally recommend you the third type, the classical guitar. It is very beginner friendly, because on the contrary to the e-guitar you can play it with plastic (nylon) strings instead of metal ones. Sure the sound with plastic ones is not so impressive, but it will be easier for you to learn how to play the strings, because the skin of your fingers wont be bothered as much as it would be with metal strings. After you have learned how to play with plastic strings and started to build up some protection on your fingers you can still change to an acoustic guitar with steel strings.

But how to start learning the guitar? There are basically two ways a guitar can be played. Ether you are strumming chords or you are picking strings by reading tabs or notes. Though both ways are great in their own ways and can sound very awesome, strumming chords is just easier than picking strings and is to be recommended if you are just starting to learn the guitar.

What if I tell you that you basically just need to know four chords to play over ninety percent of the songs ever written in the pop music. It is true, most of pop music is based on the Am, C, G, F chords. And even if the song of your desire is not exactly written in those chords, a little awesome thing called the capo, a string clip can be used to modify any guitar so you basically can play every song with only those chords. With some exceptions of course. Even better these are some of the easiest chords to learn. Go ahead and just learn those chords. Give it a chance and start your awesome journey with the guitar.
