The first appearance of ballet was in the 15th century in Italian Renaissance courts. Noblemen and ladies were leading a pompous lifestyle by celebrating big festivities like weddings. Of course, music plays a big role in events like these. For these spectacles, there were dance masters from whom the lords and ladies learned the first steps of the ballet. Ballet at the French Court was first supported in the 16th century by Catherine de Medici, who belonged to the Italian nobility since she was married to King Henry II of France. She was a notable supporter and enthusiast of this art form. The so-called “Ballet de Cour” was an initiative of hers that featured dance, poetry, décor, costumes, and music. The person who contributed to the popularization and standardization was King Louis XIV a century later.
Later, in the 19th century, the first classical ballets were created, like “The Nutcracker”, “Sleeping Beauty” and “Swan Lake”. From then to this day, there are many fans and enthusiasts of this elegant form of dancing.

The impact ballet has on our lives is still big. It teaches us morals like good and evil since ballet acts contain a lot of educational storytelling. It can communicate feelings and transcend cultures and countries because there are no words needed to understand the meanings of the plays.
