I don’t know about you, but love to eat hot dogs. This is not only a delicious meal but also a fun schoolyard game. “Hot Dog Tag” is a fun variation of the classic tag game. Perfect to play during a short school break or just when you meet up with your friends in your free time.
What do you need?
It makes the game even more fun that you don’t need any materials for it. You can just gather your friends and start without any preparations.
Who plays?
The game is a perfect game for children in kindergarten and primary school. The amount of players doesn’t matter since you can adjust your playing space and how many taggers you have. However, at least 10 children should play the game together so that it is fun.
How to play “Hot Dog Tag”
The game is not called hot dog tag for no reason, and here you will see why. There are some special rules that make it a variation of the classical tag game. First, pick a player or more players (depending on the group size) to be “it”. These players will try to catch the other players, just like in a classical tag game. The difference is that if you get tagged, you have to lie down on the ground. The arms and legs are together and very straight, just like the sausage in a hot dog. When you want to continue playing, you will also need to complete your hot dog. In order to do that, you can scream: “I need buns!” As soon as you find two people who are willing to be your buns, they have to lie down on either side of you to make a complete hot dog. After that, all three of you can get up and rejoin the game.
Variations
You should definitely adjust the game to the number of players that are playing. Otherwise, it will get boring really fast. Therefore, choose more players to be “it” and to catch the other players if you are playing with more people. With more taggers, the game continues to be fast and dynamic, as well as a lot of fun for everyone.
What you should remember in any case is that you have to watch out for the other kids, so that you don’t bump into anyone or trip over hot dogs laying on the ground.
Have fun playing!
