I want to introduce you to three of my favorite games to play with balloons. They’re simple to play and a lot of fun, and they serve as a reminder that you don’t need a special occasion to blow up balloons.
What do you need?
This is obvious, but I can’t forget to mention it. Enfolded balloons are needed for all of the games listed below. A big space outside is also needed. If you have a free room inside, however, these games can be perfectly played on rainy days too.
Who plays?
These games are a lot of fun for children in preschool. A minimum of two to ten players is needed. They are perfect birthday party games, but at the same time, they are also suitable for every day.
How to play?
Balloon Waddle Races
This game even works with only two participants. You need a starting and a finishing line and nothing more than one balloon for each player. The players line up at the start and place the balloons between their knees. Race to the finish line without dropping or bursting their balloons. Whoever is the fastest wins.
If you have a large group, you can divide the players into two or more teams and play the race as a relay, meaning that you have only one balloon per group that has to be passed onto the next player.
Pass the Balloon
The game ‘Pass the Balloon’ is most fun when played with ten or more kids. Split up into even groups. Every group gets a balloon, and the players stand in parallel lines, each about half a meter apart. Once the start signal is given, the teams must pass the balloon under the legs and over the next person’s head until it reaches the first person in line. The first team to pass the balloon all the way to the first player wins.
Here, you can also get creative about the way the players have to pass on the balloon. Maybe throwing it would be fun, or alternating passing it left and right. It is a perfect game for building group cohesion and teamwork.
Balloon Balance
This game is very simple. It is just about balancing the balloon on different body parts. You can either play it as a race or as a battle against the clock.
For a race, line up at the starting line and agree on how to balance the balloon. On your head, on one finger, on your foot. There, you can perfectly adjust the difficulty of the game as well. When you say “start”, nobody is allowed to use their hands anymore. The winner is whoever makes it the fastest to the finish line without dropping his or her balloon.
For a battle against the clock, everyone spreads out in a big room. Each player has a balloon to balance. Whoever drops the balloon is out. Whoever balances the balloon for the longest time wins.
