The physical advantages of dancing

Of course, dancing can be a lot of fun. This physical activity overcomes borders of states and continents. It connects people without language and just tells stories by using the beat, the rhythm and our own bodies. The uniqueness and individuality that can be embraced when dancing, is rarely found in another type of sports. Moreover, it can be a way to represent ones culture, believes or emotions. Not only is it fun to move your body to different rhythms, it also contributes enormously to our physical health and fitness.

Dancing can be seen as a full-body-workout. Through the individual and dynamic movement, every dance choreography includes all body parts. Of course, is the genre in which you are dancing decisive of the intensity one will create when dancing. Also the style will define which body parts will be stressed the most and which muscle groups are working the hardest. For instance, dancing ballet will strengthen the muscles on your back and the abs the most. Opposite to that, in latin dances the core and the hip muscles will improve more.

It is proven that for people who dance the risk of getting heart issues is most-likely decreasing, since your breath will go faster and the heart rate will be elevated through the movement. Also the blood flow will be accelerated which contributes to a healthy cardiovascular system.

Another advantage of dancing is the positive effect it has on your lungs and endurance. Through the accelerated movements, the body arrives in a state of exertion and this will contribute to the work of your lungs.

Furthermore, dancing develops the muscles in your core as well as the muscles of your legs, back and arms. The strengthened core will help people who have a displaced or bad posture and have to deal with back aches. It can also prevent injuries, strains and overstretching problems because the body will be able to handle sudden or wrong movements.

A lot of people have issues with flexibility, also in the daily life. If your whole body is creaking when you try to pick up the pencil that has just fallen down, then you should probably work on your flexibility and try to stretch more. The dance style that is most-likely to help you with the goal of getting more flexible, is ballet. The genre of dancing requires a lot of twisting and turning, especially in the legs and arms.

A rather unknown fact about the benefits of dancing is that it is good for the health of your bones. Through the alternating and different movements of the body, the bones get strengthened and some doctors even recommend their patients to take some dance lessons because of that.
Especially in the hips, it really can decrease the risk of bone density and because of this, may prevent a bone from breaking.

Other than that, dancing is a great way to train your brain. Studies show that people have a better memory when they dance more often. Moreover, it even can help with memory loss that is caused by dementia. But in every age this physical activity is great to improve ones brain health. The ability to memorize different choreographies and steps that are necessary when dancing can also be helpful in other parts of our lifes like structuring tasks or organizing things like your room.
