Take It… Or Not

If you are someone that enjoys playing games where you get to play a little rough without hurting anyone and having tons of fun, this is the perfect game for you. It does not need a lot of equipment and guarantees a good time.

What do you need?
A playing field with clear borders (a middle line and two baselines parallel to the middle line) and a piece of cloth, a jacket, a scarf, etc.; whatever is available to you. The number of players should be at a minimum of six players but this is one of the games that is perfect for playing in a bigger group, too (around 20-30 players).

How to play?
The first step is to form two even teams. In each team, everyone has their number. It starts with the number one and goes up to however many players there are. To decide on who has which number, the team gathers in a circle and discusses it quietly so that the other team does not hear it right from the start. If the teams are uneven, one of the players of the team with one person less gets assigned two numbers. Besides the players in the teams, we also need one person that is not an active player to sit on the outside and be the game master. He or she is responsible for calling out the numbers and keeping track of the score.
The object of choice (e.g. a cloth) has to be laid down on the middle line in the middle of the playing field. The game master then calls out the first number. The two players with that number have to run to the middle line with the goal of getting the object behind their baseline without being tagged by the other player. If a player holds the object in their hand and then gets tagged by the other player, this team automatically gets the point. However, if you manage to carry the object behind your baseline, your team gets the point. Keep in mind that you only get the point when you cross the baseline with the object in your hands; if you kick or throw it over the baseline the other team gets the point.
The object then has to be put on the middle line again and the game master calls out a new number. To make things more difficult, the game master can call out multiple numbers in one round. He or she can do that at whatever given time. It is also allowed to not straight up call out the number but instead say for example “six + six”; the players have to calculate the equation and send the correct player, in this case, the player with the number 12.
Each player must remember who their opponent player is. For this, the game master should call out each number in the first few rounds so the players know who plays against who. Especially when multiple players are active in one round, the players have to know which player they have to tag or run away from. The rules for one number apply to multiple numbers, as well. This means that if the players with the numbers three and eight are in the game, the player with the number eight can only tag the player of the other team with the number eight, and the same goes for the number three. If number three tags number eight, nothing happens.
There are a few important safety rules that must be followed: no biting, scratching, kicking, punching, etc.; nothing that could seriously injure the other players.

I hope you enjoy this game and have fun playing!
